I'm a researcher at the Visualization and Multimodal Interfaces Group of INESC-ID and Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico, the School of Engineering of the University of Lisboa. My research interests span from Personal Information Management and Information Visualization (especially on how InfoVis can be applied to PIM) to Accessibility and Human-Computer Interaction, in general.

  • paper on the perception of relative proportions of colors in blends

    I'll be at NordiCHI presenting two project results. The first is a study on whether people are able to estimate the proportions in which two different colors were mixed, from the resulting color. The second has to do with visualizing large amounts of educational datamining patterns

    We've just got one paper and a poster accepted to Eurovis, thanks in no small part to the efforts of my student Sandra Gama. Seek her there to know more about color blending and InfoVis applied to the visualizaton of personal social activity (both InfoVis and Personal Information Management people will find it interesting!)
