Classes will start on February 13 at 12 am in Room Q4.6 ("Torre Sul").
Overview
This course is targeted to advanced level undergraduate students (Bolonha 2th cycle)
in Chemistry, Physics or Bio-Sciences and Freshmen PhD Students aiming to get a general
overview of molecular spectroscopy.
Quantum Mechanics, the interaction of light and matter, and group theory are used as tools
to rationalize the underlying principles of spectroscopy.
Special emphasys will be given to the various forms of optical spectroscopy
(rotational, vibrational and electronic), photoelectron spectroscopy and lasers.
At Semesters end a brief introduction to magnetic spectroscopic techniques (nuclear magnetic
resonance and electron spin resonance) will be presented.
