Chamomile, roman

Chamomile oils are available in three types:

Roman chamomile oil is produced from the dried flowers of Chamaemelum nobile (L.) All. (Anthemis nobilis L.), which are cultivated primarily in Belgium, but also in England, France and Hungary. All the plants belong to Asteraceae (Compositae) family. The oil is distilled in France and England. It is a light blue or a light greenish-blue liquid with a strong aromatic odour characteristic of flowers.

The constituents of roman chamomile include esters of angelic and galic acids, with pinene, farnesol, nerolidol, chamazulene, pinocarvone, and cineole, among others.
