Dire Straits
Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Ilsley and Pick Withers formed in 1977 the Dire Straits and since then they have produced excellent albuns. With enormous success in the 80's, Dire Straits music and lyrics still actual, even more than twenty years after they have been written.
Pink Floyd
Undoubtly, one of the more influential rock bands of all times, the Pink Floyd offered us some of the best pieces of music produced last century. Among my favourite albuns are the masterpieces "The Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish you were here", besides the excelent live performance of "Pulse". But Pink Floyd is much more than just music, their art can be seen in their album covers. Indeed, I invite you to look carefully for the cover of some of their albuns and enjoy the details, the hidden messages and, most of all, the beauty of it.
Vangelis
Each music from Vangelis take us to a specific state of mind, or to a particular place somewere in our imagination. From the hymn to victory Chariots of Fire to the relaxing Prelude from the album Voices.
Eric Clapton
He makes his guitar cry. Clapton can make us understand his feelings through his music, magestrally played.
Santana
Carlos Santana plays his guitar like nobody else, in a passionate way, either for sad, romantic or for full of life songs. Try and see it for yourself.
Sting (and the Police)
Created in the late seventies, the Police produced a few big hits like "Roxanne" or "Every breath you take" among oter great songs. After breaking up, the singer and bassist Sting started his solo career and since then he continued producing excelent music. However, besides his music and acting, Sting has been focusing on making the world a better place for more than a decade. His concerns with world hunger and environment started before "Live Aid" and long before the "Live Earth". First with songs like "Driven to Tears" and his participation on Bob Geldof's "Feed the world" project. Later, his activism in defense of Amazonia led to the creation of the Rainforest Foundation.
