Main scientific areas of research

  • Physics of gas discharges
  • Plasma physics

Other scientific areas of interest

  • Atomic and molecular physics
  • Electromagnetic theory
  • Kinetic Theory
  • Special relativity

My work is essentially related to the kinetic modelling of electrical discharges in atomic and molecular gases, both for pure gases and their mixtures. This includes:

  • modelling the kinetic processes in electrical discharges (volume and surface kinetics);
  • discharge models for dc discharges;
  • discharge models for surface-wave discharges;
  • monte-carlo models for gas-surface reactions;
  • macroscopic models for gas-surface reactions.

I studied mostly the cases of Nitrogen, Oxygen and the mixtures Nitrogen-Oxygen and Nitrogen-Argon.

I am involved as well in work related to the foundations of special relativity, proposing firmly a Lorentzian theory.
