Os interesses científicos de Rosinda Costa Ismael situam-se na área dos processos de separação e tratamento de efluentes. Os trabalhos em que tem estado envolvida dizem respeito à aplicação da Extracção Líquido-Líquido na remoção de metais pesados de soluções sulfúricas. Nesses trabalhos incluem-se estudos de extracção de ferro realizados a nível piloto, em contínuo, numa coluna de enchimento.
