I was born in Leiria, Portugal, May 1982.

From 2000-2005 I was a student of Licenciatura em Engenharia Física Tecnológica at IST. I was a junior researcher at the GoLP/Group of Lasers and Plasmas from 2003-2005.

From 2006-2010 I finished my PhD degree in Physics at IST (Pass with distinction – Highest mark awarded to the top 10% PhD thesis at IST) supervised by Luis O. Silva. During the PhD I stayed at the UCLA plasma simulation group under the supervision of Prof. Warren Mori in 2006 and 2008.

I was a post-doc at IST from 2010-2012 with a post-doctoral fellowship from the Portuguese Science Foundation, and was an Humboldt Fellow at Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich (Germany) future accelerators group with Dr. Patric Muggli in 2012-2013.

I am currently an invited Assistant Professor at IST and hold a Principal FCT Researcher fellowship at GoLP.

Below is a summary of other scientific activities I have performed.
