Nos últimos anos dedicou-se essencialmente a estudos no domínio da Fotoquímica de Superfícies, nomeadamente:

Arqueometria: PIXE, XRF, XRD, micro-Raman, FT-IR, GSDR, LIF e LIP aplicadas ao estudo de cerâmicas arqueológicas.

Estudos de fotodegradação usando TiO2 dopado e não dopado.

Rodaminas, cianinas, squarinas e porfirinas como agentes de PDT.

Fotodegradação de poluentes ambientais (dibenzodioxinas, dibenzofuranos, PAH's, etc) e de corantes (cianinas, rodaminas, branqueadores ópticos, etc.).

Celuloses microcristalina, nativa e modificada, calixarenos, ciclodextrinas, sílicas de diferentes porosidades, zeólitos hidrofílicos e hidrofóbicos (silicalite) como substratos sólidos.

Fotoquímica e Fotofísica de contaminantes ambientais em superfícies e nanocavidades.

Fotoquímica de cetonas em superfícies e nanocavidades.

Estudos de transferência de energia  e de processos de desactivação radiativa e não radiativa em superfícies e nanocavidades.

Técnicas de absorção e emissão, nomeadamente a luminescência induzida por laser e a fotólise por impulso de laser em modo de reflectância difusa e resolvida no tempo (resolução do nanosegundo ao segundo). FT-IR resolvido no tempo (gama temporal de microsegundo e nanosegundo) com sincronização com laser Nd:YAG.
